There’s been much ado about Saint Laurent Paris by Hedi Slimane. The brand, formerly known as Yves Saint Laurent, or simply as “YSL,” has undergone a major transformation by its new creative director. Gone is the “Yves,” discarded is the aspirational fashion and in is a new logo, grunge leather and Marilyn Manson.
Two of the most anticipated shows of Paris Fashion Week were Raf Simons’ first RTW collection for Dior and Hedi Slimane’s debut for the newly branded Saint Laurent. Both of these collections, in my opinion, were up to par. Fantastic as pieces from their brands always are, but neither groundbreaking. Saint Laurent even received negative criticism from some.
