By now I am sure most of you fashion enthusiasts have heard the news that J.Crew has tapped fashion industry and street style favorites for their Fall 2012 campaign. I wonder if J.Crew’s creative director, Jenna Lyons, who is a street style icon conceived this idea. Or if her popularity in street style blogs inspired J.Crew’s marketing department to cast “street celebrities.” However, beyond the great photos, people, style and great quotes in the campaign why is this story so important/relevant/interesting?

Well, I don’t know about you, but I really think this campaign, by a major retailer, speaks volumes to the importance of street style photographers, fashion bloggers and the web in fashion. Most of these people do hold important positions, but they’ve also come to importance through their online personalities captured by this new medium. Super exciting, eh? I wonder if another retailer or even J.Crew will next tap a collection of fashion bloggers…I sure do hope so!
