Singer and sextress Rihanna covers the May 2012 issue of ELLE magazine in a studded yellow and leather ensemble from Versace. She looks hot and the mag is pushing Spring fashion and news. Great! But what I love are the colors of the magazine cover. Silver, yellow and hot magenta (is that a color?)! ![]()
Anyway, when you have a subscription publishers think they’re cool by sending you a “special” cover that you can’t purchase on newsstands. Most of the time (in case you don’t subscribe to magazines because ICON gives you all the fashion news you could ever want and need) the covers are cool, more void of words and feature the cover model doing some weird “fashion” pose. Anyway, this ELLE, which I do subscribe to, had a gorgeous Rihanna doing one of those weird poses on a dark and moody cover (think Ellen Pompeo from Grey’s Anatomy on a dark Harlem street with a little PMS) but NO COLOR! When I saw the magazine on the newsstand I thought, “wait why didn’t I get my copy!?!” Then I realized I did. I got the boring moody one, not the bright, poppy, BUY ME one.
So, yea, I was a little annoyed, but since I don’t even have time to read the 12 monthly magazines and daily WWDs that arrive at my home I wasn’t too upset, just a little peeved. The covers are my favorite part!
P.S. Penelope Cruz also wears Versace in the pages of this month’s Harper’s Bazaar.
