Some argue that talent is born not nurtured, but in musician Julia Price’s case it’s both. Playing music from the early age of 3, she’s been nurturing and growing her natural talent, and making sweet music for well over two decades. As for fashion, she’s no novice either, and describes her style as versatile and girly with a punch of color. Julia’s style is easily dictated by her mood and she goes for easy basics like Paige denim, while accessorizing with bold statement necklaces.
So what does Julia do to relax? What’s on her iPod? I’ve got all the answers below in this exclusive interview. So read on and don’t forget to check out her site, her latest tunes and her new show ”Miss Advised,” Mondays on Bravo at 10PM (you know, right after the Real Housewives of New York City. Oh don’t pretend like you don’t watch)!
AND her EP drops on July 30th, but you can download her first single, “Girlfriend” here.
ICON: What is style to you?
JP: Style is a way to introduce yourself without ever saying a word.
ICON: How does your music influence what you wear?
JP: My music is a direct reflection of what’s going on in my life, so just as my music is affected by emotions, so is my style. I tend to base my stylistic decisions on the way I’m feeling that morning. One day I’ll throw on leggings and a huge sweater, the next I’ll wear a bright yellow dress with bold green jewelry.
ICON: What’s on your iPod, besides your own music?
JP: Michelle Branch, Imogen Heap, Ray LaMontagne, Lily Allen, Jason Mraz, Ellie Goulding.
ICON: What are you currently obsessed with right now in your closet?
JP: My denim Paige skinny jeans! I wear them so much it’s a miracle I haven’t slept in them yet!
ICON: How do you go from day to the stage?
JP: Ditch the jeans and throw on a bright-colored dress. I love the way bold colors look on stage.
ICON: What can our readers expect next from you in music?
JP: Aside from the release of my first EP early this fall, I’ve been collaborating with a few
house/dance DJs, writing the piano and lyrical parts. DJ David Dann and I got one of our songs to #7 on the iTunes chart for dance! It’s such feel-good, come together music.
