Welcome Appetizers, Italian Dinner & Jay Ahr Presentation w/ Luisa Via Roma Team #Firenze4Ever

Just wanted to share some snap shots with you from my first night with Luisa Via Roma. As I mentioned, I am in Florence, Italy this week for Firenze4Ever and Pitti. When I arrived at their majestic store (can I use such a big adjective for a store?) I was instantly taken by its beauty and AMAZING clothes (coming in next posts).

I went upstairs to their terrace where there was a step and repeat. Photographers instantly started snapping my photos and I was greeted by my personal assistant and stylist, Soultana. After taking in the scene I ran into the Karl Lagerfeld team from Amsterdam, and instantly started conversing in Dutch* with them!  Did you know Karl had a team in Amsterdam? Well, he does! I then chatted a bit with other Dutch bloggers, Aimee from Song of Style and Wendy from Wendy’s Lookbook (hello, LA bloggers!). I also met Zannita and Jessica from Fellt.com over in Australia, the Dutch online editor for Vogue NL and the lovely Alessia from The Red Dot in Belgium.

After the appetizers we walked around the corner to a Jay Ahr special presentation, or “Fashion Lab.” It was basically a 3D presentation of his new collection in a dark room. While it only lasted a few minutes, and it was pretty hard to photograph, it was insanely cool and you should head over to his website to learn more.

Afterwards, I told Aimee and Wendy what it was like to get married at 23 and we all talked about the long flight over from LA, and in Zannita’s case, Sydney. We then were shuttled off to dinner in taxi cabs. There I met Jakob, one of the boys behind Dandy Diary** and the beautiful Elizabeth and her hubby Carlos from Fashion’s Collective. We talked tech, social media and going digital. On the menu for dinner was a mixture of amazing Italian food including antipasta, steak and pear ravioli. It was delicious, and after a tiring yet exciting night I headed home with my mom at about 1AM!

Okay, going to have a TON of more photos for you in the next week or two on the event (here’s a preview though). Sorry for the long post, hope you enjoyed it!

*I speak Dutch because my family is from Suriname. A tiny country in South America that was a former Dutch colony. When the country got its independence in ’78 half my family went to the U.S. and the other half to The Netherlands. So I spent my summers growing up in the Netherlands with my cousins.

**If you’re going to be in Berlin for Fashion Week in early July, get in touch with the boys of Dandy Diary…um…they’re gonna have a mega party with an elephant. Like a REALY elephant!
