Today on Moda Operandi – Brazilian Designers Ara Vartanian and Paula Raia

Brazilian fashion week on Moda Operandi just keeps getting better and better. From amazing crescent shape earrings by designer Silvia Furmanovich, pink leather vest by Pedro Lourenco and a great yellow maxi dress by Isolda. Today on the site they’re featuring jewelry designer Ara Vartanian and his namesake label. Think luxurious arm parties. For ready to wear Moda Operandi dreamt big, really big with Paula Raia’s innovative and immaginative illusion gowns. In fact, Raia’s pieces are so amazing, I am showing several pieces from her designs so that you get a full look at the majesty of her imagination.

For jewelry designer Ara, studying in NYC and working on Wall Street was not enough. He had exotic jewels pulsing through his veins, as the son of two Armenian jewelers. He doesn’t create “collections” and he sketches his jewels one by one, making sure each piece is unique and true to its form. I had a hard time picking a favorite here, and I instantly LOVED the black and white diamond, with green tourmaline bangles. However, I’ve also never seen a semi-precious/precious gem double-finger ring. So I picked both, ah a girl can dream! The opal and sapphire ring will look amazing with light blue denim or a pin stripe blouse.

Paula Raia is a Brazilian born beauty who studied as an architect and has worked as an editor and stylist. Now, she brings us what she has learned. I could go on and preach my love for this collection, but I will just show you the pieces. Pay attention to detail…do you see that? As for how to accessorize this gown? Keep the heels as light and high as possible. For jewelry, why not wear the Silvia Furmanovich earrings that I picked on Monday. Good? Good.
