French-born designer Sophie Theallet’s Spring 2013 collection was a fun, colorful and sexy exploration of dressing, women and playful shapes. Not only was she fearless in her exhibition of fabrics, detailing and prints, but she also brought upon a very new feminine mystique at her show at MADE Fashion Week.

What I loved most about her collection (besides the awesome Dragon Fly print that she used throughout her pieces) was her use of color. She intertwined, mingled and mixed them like no one else this season at NYFW. It was a kaleidoscope of beautiful colors, and it almost seemed as if water paintings, and not models were floating down the runway.
Another trick that Theallet mastered? Layering. Dresses and jumpers were laid over great blouses and her pieces appeared to have layer after layer that somehow avoided being bulky and truly added to the intricacies and uniqueness of her designs.
So, if you see a beautiful, regal and elegant woman floating down a NYC street in a perfectly layered and colorful dress chances are she’s wearing Sophie Theallet. Can someone please get this woman in touch with Kate Middleton’s people?
