What is your first thought when you see or hear about black leather? Fifty Shades of Grey or amazing fashion? For me it’s the ladder, and that seems to be the case too for top designers. Alexander Wang, Proenza Schouler and Givenchy have all released new ad campaigns that showcase women wearing black leather. Thick, thin, layered, long, short and cropped, black leather is where it’s at. So…how do you replicate this look? Easy…invest in one good piece of genuine leather.
While you may not be able to afford a Givenchy leather trench, you can find a good pick from Zara, Topshop, ASOS or from Urban Outfitters vintage picks. I say invest, because a great black leather jacket never goes out of style, and let’s face it faux-leather just never looks as good. If you wear faux because of moral reasons though, you can get great picks from Members Only or Stella McCartney. If you’re daring go for one with a fur trim or studded embellishments.
