Emerson Spring 2013 – Horror Film Inspirations – New York Fashion Week

Emerson loves mixing romantic and edgy elements into her collections and her Spring 2013 show continued this signature. Her collection was inspired by 1970′s horror films such as Carrie and films by Rob Zombie. She mixed a dark inspiration and translated it into an elegant, refined outcome.

When walking into the Stage at Lincoln Center, a row of red balloons lined the entrance way enhancing the Carrie inspiration.

When the show started, her collection was filled with sleeveless peplum tops as well as peplum blazers & dresses, jersey tank dresses, and classic button-down blouses. Flowy feminine pieces are another nod to the High School setting of Carrie as well as touches of red throughout the collection.

Emerson’s collection was one that is geared to my style and more every day wear. I love the elegance and romance within each piece, in a color palette that is made to excite. Colors of black & white, electric blue, bright red, neon orange, and purple do the job for adding pops of colors into spring.

The show ended in a bang, literally, confetti guns went off covering the stage, viewers and models in red confetti.

Not only did Emerson deliver an amazing spring/summer collection, she intensified the runway experience by combining classic horror movies and fashion in a subtle and intriguing way.
