Last week Friday I attended a special seminar hosted by L’Oreal at the Rossano Ferretti salon in Beverly Hills. The master himself attended along with lead colorlist Nancy Braun. They walked us through what sets a good cut apart from a Ferretti one, and Nancy detailed balayage, the hottest coloring technique in Hollywood for a while now. You know it’s that natural style that Gisele, Aniston and every other major celebrity sports. However, the main star was L’Oréal Professionnel INOA ODS2 colors. An ammonia free, hydrating hair color product that respects hair and nourishes it, all while delivering superior coloring power. I even got a complimentary color the following week by one of their stylists named Tamar.

As for Ferretti’s story, it was fascinating! Basically, a top stylist who travelled and worked with major designers such as Versace, he was unsatisfied with his cuts. One day (true story) while on a shoot in Malta, he lured a model onto a rock in the wilderness and started to dance with her hair in the moonlight. The scissor, as he says, should be the last step. He believes in beautifully natural hair that moves with the person, not with the cut. You can see some his work above and the natural color that Nancy applied to the hair models. And does he cut hair wet or dry? Neither. He cuts hair about 80-90% dry, so when he is done with the cut, hair has dried naturally, and perfectly in place with his iconic cut.

So…if you’re in Beverly Hills (or anywhere, since he has salons around the world) make sure to get one Ferretti’s cuts! AND if you’re in the market for color definitely consider the balayage technique using the INOA colors. You can see the results on me above. Ask for Tamar!
